If there’s one thing every fan of The Great British Bake Off has dreamed of, it’s being on the set of the show and being able to sample all of the various delights that are on offer from the bakers.
Surprising it is then to hear that new host of the show Noel Fielding won’t be indulging in any of the sweet treats when the series makes its debut on Channel 4.
Speaking with The Sunday Times, the show’s newest member explained: “No one likes a tubby gut is what I’m saying. I don’t eat anything. I’m like a plant. It’s not that I don’t like cake – I have a very sweet tooth. But I was playing Alice Cooper and I had to lose a stone, so I wasn’t eating sugar.
“You can’t just get straight back onto sugar, as it’s quite a powerful thing.”
Fielding is referring to his role as Alice Cooper in upcoming Sky Arts biography series Urban Myths, which saw him take on the no sugar diet.
Something tells me we’re going to be missing Mel and Sue sneaking little bites of the goods when Bake Off makes its return…
The Great British Bake Off comes to Channel 4 later this year.
