Nigel Harman has quit 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 50-year-old actor had been taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition alongside professional partner Katya Jones, 34, but pulled out of the series just hours before the live show on Saturday (02.12.23) after sustaining an injury.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the BBC said: "Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform and has had to withdraw from 'Strictly'."
It remains unclear whether an elimination will go ahead this week as former 'Coronation Street' actress Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola along with tennis legend Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, West End star Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin as well as 'EastEnders' actor Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell all prepare to take to the stage ahead of next week's semi-final.
Less than a day before he was supposed to compete in the quarter-finals, 'Casualty' star Nigel had spoken of his excitement to have made it through to Musicals week as he teased that he and Katya would be dancing a complex routine set to 'Step in Time' from Disney classic 'Mary Poppins'.
Speaking on 'It Takes Two', he told host Fleur East: "I just love musicals, I love the singing and dancing and the heightened emotions of it all. We've got this banger this week, it's full on showbiz. There's leaps, there's carries and we're flying around and I end up needing oxygen every time I do it. It's full on but it's exciting.'
"I'm not gonna lie, the Rumba just sort of mincing around wafting my hips in a general direction with some arms was lovely, maybe one bead of sweat.
"This week, St John's ambulance are on standby.'
