GB News star Nigel Farage is currently in the Australian jungle for a reported fee of £1.5 million
The 59-year-old politician is currently taking part in this year's edition of the ITV1 jungle reality series d an insider has now claimed that some employees on the show feel as if he is managing his time in the Outback as if it were one of his campaigns.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Some crew members might feel they are at odds with Nigel's political views, but he's at the heart of all of the interesting conversations, he's creating storylines and almost self-producing in there.
"But for many the moment he chose to flip his T-shirt was the final straw.
"They feel he's become a master manipulator who is now running his time on the show like an electoral campaign.
"The crew are feeling torn. They're all professionals and everyone can recognise Farage can make great telly, but some ae restarting to feel like the show has become a pawn in the politician's next push for election."
So far during his time in the jungle, the GB News star tried to debate with YouTuber Nella Rose when she claimed he was "hated by everyone" in the country despite his successful campaign for Brexit in 2016.
He replied: "You can disagree with somebody, but to chuck around accusations the way they’ve been chucked around is grossly unfair. Anti-immigrant, right? No, no, all I’ve said is we cannot go on with the numbers coming to Britain that are coming!"
In the end, Nella and Nigel "agreed to disagree" and ended their debate.
The former UKIP chief recently explained to campmate Grace Dent that he wanted to do a Bushtucker Trial because it would be an extra "twenty five per cent more airtime", and that he had "an audience to reach."
The source also confirmed that although Nigel was proving to be a contentious figure on the show, they still wanted to ensure that the programme remained politically unbiased.
They said: "It is always our intention to broadcast a show that is a fair and accurate representation for all of our celebrities."
