Nicola Adams would "love" to return 'Strictly Come Dancing' because she feels she has unfinished business on the series after being eliminated due to COVID-19.
The 39-year-old double Olympic gold medal winning boxer was forced to depart the BBC Latin and ballroom show in 2020 when her pro partner Katya Jones tested positive for coronavirus, and she is ready to make a return to the dancefloor because she was never voted off by the judges.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I definitely would love to give it another go.
"I was absolutely gutted at the time. It wasn’t the best feeling being knocked out of the competition over something that wasn’t my fault. I’m a champion, I’d rather go out to the better dancer in the dance off, not get knocked out by COVID."
Nicola would be up for returning to the main show or a spot on the annual festive episode of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
When asked if she'd accept a place on the Christmas special, she answered: "Sure, I’d give it a shot."
Nicola's former partner Katya, 32, was partnered with fellow Olympic athlete Adam Peaty on this year's series, but the pair were eliminated last weekend afte losing in the dance-off to Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin.
The ex-pugilist worked with two-time Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Adam, 26, on Alpro's new 'Team PB' (Team Plant-Based) - campaign which is teaching Brits how to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet, including protein-rich soya which Alpro's products are packed with.
Nicola insists Adam would have been gutted to be eliminated before the final because he is such a fierce competitor.
Speaking about this year's series of 'Strictly', she said: "It was really nice to see that Katya's gone from one Olympic gold medallist to another.
"Adam is just as competitive as I am. I think every Olympic athlete has that, they just want to win.”
Nicola, Adam, England footballer Tyrone Mings and tennis star Heather Watson all teamed up to launch the #AlproPBChallenge - available on YouTube - to get the nation fitter and trying more plant-based meals and to set a series of challenges inspired by their individuals sports.
The former WBO world female flyweight champion - who set a skipping challenge - follows a predominantly plant-based diet and only eats meat when needs must.
She shared: "I’ve been plant-based for quite a few years.
“I’ve been working with Alpro for quite a while, and this is one of the reasons that I wanted to do this campaign to help people live more plant-based and help the planet. Soya is a very good source of protein and it’s just better than eating meat.
“I’m mainly plant-based, I’ll eat meat occasionally but not very often. Basically, if there’s no other option I’ll have meat.”
Sharing her top tip to start eating less meat and animal products, she added: "Start off slowly, find things that you like to eat, don’t think it has to be all or nothing straight away, especially if you’ve been eating meat for a long time. Take it slow and steady and start to introduce different foods instead of meat."
