Nick Grimshaw's boyfriend has banned him from taking part in 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 37-year-old star has seen a number of his former BBC Radio 1 colleagues, including Clara Amfo and Scott Mills, take part in the celebrity dance contest over the years but he admitted fans shouldn't get their hopes up about seeing him follow in their footsteps because he doesn't want to embarrass his partner, Meshach Henry.
Nick admitted: "My boyfriend’s a dancer and he would just not let me do it because he’s like a perfectionist and that’s his trade. I think I’d let the side down. I don’t think I could do it.”
And the 37-year-old star won't be appearing on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' either because he refuses to share his space with animals.
Speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Fubar radio's 'Access All Areas' in an appearance, he said: “I don’t think I would. I honestly can’t with any creature. I don’t know how people do it. Like honestly, I just could not. I can’t even touch a cat. I couldn’t touch a snake. I couldn’t. Dogs I’m fine with but even my sister’s cats, I’m like, aahh. So there’s not a chance.”
However, the presenter admitted he'd consider doing a brief trial run of the show - but wouldn't want anyone to see it.
He said: “I’d like to do it if it wasn’t on the telly and I could try it for an hour and then be like ‘I don’t like it’. Just like a sped up version. An hour long.”
Meanwhile, Nick and Katherine Ryan are teaming up to launch recipe box company Gousto’s food pop-up experience Flavourlust in London.
The event - which takes place on 17 and 18 September - will see attendees completely immersed in the exotic street food destinations of Thailand, India and Brazil - inspired by the recipes in Gousto’s limited edition ‘street food range.
He said: "Everyone who knows me will tell you I love food and I love travel, and I especially love trying new food when I travel!
For me, immersing myself in a new culture is the best source of inspiration. After 18 months of lockdown, I am buzzing to be hosting Gousto's Flavourlust event, where I can start exploring new food again and scratch that travel itch”.
To grab tickets to this year’s ultimate bucket list destination, visit flavourlust.eventbrite.co.uk and get ready to explore Gousto’s limited-edition Street Food range.
And for those who can’t attend in person, Gousto’s Flavourlust recipes will be available to order at www.gousto.co.uk until 28 September 2021 - making up one of over 60 Gousto recipes to choose from every week.
