Netflix, the world’s leading streaming service, has been adding some brilliant new content for its users and, this September (2021), the newest season of Sex Education will be added to that list.

Since its Netflix debut in 2019, Sex Education has only grown in popularity, as many young adults can seemingly relate to the awkward and embarrassing world of growing up. The show boasts a diverse cast and a well-humoured range of characters.

The show primarily focuses on Otis (Asa Butterfield), a teenager whose mother, Jean (Gillian Anderson) is a sex therapist who, unfortunately for him, does not shy away from the topic of the birds and the bees.

Otis has matured a lot since season one, as have other characters, and season three is set to explore all that and more, along with perhaps answering the question on everyone’s lips: will that voicemail ever be outed?

The series has recently released an in-world advert for the school of Moordale, showcasing students old and new; this was a great way to introduce the third season.

Now, first look images have been released that show characters that we know and love, along with new cast members.

Otis and Maeve (Emma Mackey) are pictured together, but with the notable bad-girl looking less than impressed with her pubescent friend; a crowd gathers behind them, suggesting a good old-fashioned school fight, or even unwelcomed guests.

Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells) are seen enjoying each other’s company, and looking content with one another now they are officially an item; and proud of it.

Otis is now having casual sex, Jean is having a baby, and Eric and Adam are happier than ever. New head-teacher Hope (Jemima Kirke) tries to get the school in better shape, Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) discovers feminism, and a lost voicemail still lurks the halls…

With returning characters mixing with new ones, school goes on and its inhabitants will have to grow up whether they like it or not; however, the budding romances and self-discoveries, it seems the third season will be full of an equal mix of disasters and triumphs.

Season three of Sex Education will no doubt be a chaotic ride and a display of embarrassment, love and acceptance, as well as chaos weaving its way into the characters’ lives.

Sex Education’s third season will arrive on Netflix on September 17th, 2021.
