'Doctor Who' is getting a new spin-off show.
The 10-minute programme, entitled 'Doctor Who EXTRA', will be made available on BBC iPlayer following each episode and will feature behind the scenes footage and interviews with the show's latest Time Lord, Peter Capaldi.
Over 12 instalments the new show will "trace the highs and lows of Doctor Who's most ambitious run of episodes yet, getting the inside take on series eight from the people who made it".
Along with Peter - who is set to make his debut as the Doctor when the eighth series of the show kicks off this weekend - the spin-off will also include interviews with his sidekick Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, and guest stars including Frank Skinner, Keeley Hawes, Michelle Gomez, Ben Miller and Foxes, reports The Sun newspaper.
Writers and directors from the latest series - which will begin with a feature-length first episode entitled 'Deep Breath at 7.50pm on BBC1 this Saturday (23.08.14) - will also contribute to the new show.
Meanwhile, Peter, 56, recently said he is aiming to bring "mystery and strangeness" back to 'Doctor Who' and although filming for the first series has almost finished, he thinks he's still finding his feet as the character.
He told Radio Times magazine: "I'm trying all the time to see what works and what doesn't work, though I'm trying to bring back some of the Doctor's mystery and strangeness, which is hard to do given that the show is 50 years old.
"I don't know if it's quite fallen into place yet. I think it's a mistake to get it to click, to get it to groove. I've tried to avoid finding a way to it and then just repeating that."
