Among the many shows announced at yesterday’s (November 12th, 2021) exciting Disney+ event, one stood out from the crowd as it is set to follow on of the Marvel series’ most beloved villains.
Agatha: House of Harkness is said to be coming soon to Disney+, and Marvel fans everywhere are rightly losing their minds. The show is set to follow the titular character, played by Kathryn Hahn, who made her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut earlier this year (2021) in the first ever Marvel series, WandaVision.
WandaVision was a triumph to say the least, as we followed Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) in her journey of grief, anger and melancholy.
Agatha was first introduced into the Marvel series as nosy neighbour, Agnes, and quickly became one of the show’s best characters; her animated performance as WandaVision’s surprise villain cemented her in the minds of audiences.
Hahn played the role of both intrusive neighbour and dastardly, spellbinding witch beautifully, making her a fan-favourite and a very exciting addition to Phase Four of the MCU. Her over-confidence cost her in the end however, as Wanda got the upper hand and, Agatha was left as a simple citizen due to a spell cast by the Scarlet Witch.
So, there is definitely a way for Agatha to return, but the question on everyone’s mind, is what will happen next?
Rumours of a spinoff series to focus on the mysterious witch have been circulating for a few months, and now fans are more than happy to see that their wish to see more of Agatha have been granted.
Despite Hahn recently passing off rumours of a WandaVision spin-off, she will be helming her very own show, which may appear in either 2022 or 2023; there is no release date, or even a year attached to the project at this moment.
Details surrounding the series, such as its cast and plot, are being kept a secret for now. However, fans have of course already began speculating about the narrative and what it could be.
Some believe that we may see more flashbacks of Agatha’s time as a young witch in the midst of the Salem Witch Trials that took place in the 17th century, which would be a very, very interesting concept.
No matter what the show brings, there is no doubt that Marvel will give us another incredible season to watch, with twists and turns just as good as the ones seen in WandaVision; perhaps they could be even better.
Agatha: House of Harkness will join a whole host of other shows that were announced yesterday, on Disney+.
