Netflix is set to launch a 'Masked Singer'-style dating show.
The zany programme - which is said to be based on BBC Three programme 'Sexy Beasts' - is to run for an initial 12-episode run, and the series will see hopeful romantics disguising themselves as fantasy animals and aliens in a bid to find "the one".
An insider told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "This show offers a new take on the idea of a fantasy date. There are no Kim Kardashian lookalikes here.
"All potential lovers will attempt to find the one while wearing an elaborate prosthetic mask of a strange fantasy beast.
“Much like ITV’s hit 'The Masked Singer', the fun is in guessing who the real person is behind the mask and what they might actually look like, before the big reveal when masks are off and contestants are shown exactly who they’ve fallen for.”
The programme will see British and American singletons trying to find true love.
They will get to know potential partners while dressed in costumes made with Hollywood-style prosthetics.
The concept focuses on the idea that by dating in disguise, the potential partners could fall for each other's personality and flirting techniques rather than their body or beauty.
As previously revealed by Deadline, the show - which was developed under the title 'The Date' - was filmed during the pandemic between September and November, with around 50 potential lovers taking part.
