Natalie Gumede says 'Coronation Street' fans still hate her.
Natalie Gumede has said many 'Coronation Street' fans invest in the soap so much they struggle to separate her from her character Kirsty Soames and still hate her because of the convincing role.
The 'Strictly Come Dancing' star has claimed some viewers still haven't forgiven her character Kirsty Soames for the way she abused Tyrone Dobbs - played by Alan Halsall - and struggle to separate fact from fiction.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "I have had tweets from people saying they can't quite forgive me for what I did to Tyrone, despite seeing me in sequins.
"That is a statement to the show - that people invest in the story so much - and how lucky I was to be part of that. It's not for me to say whether people don't vote for me because they view me in that way."
The 29-year-old actress also confirmed "the door is open" for a return to the soap, but insisted for now she would like to try other acting projects.
She added: "I'd like to try other things first. You should never say never because we are actors. You go to where the work is and I had a wonderful time there. The door is open for me to go back.
"That's one of the joys of acting - you never know what the next challenge will be and things often surprise you.
"My return wasn't officially put on the table. We had a discussion that was very positive."
