Netflix have today (September 6) revealed that Narcos will not only be returning for a third season, but a fourth season as well.

'History continues' is all that's given away in the trailer, with the series set to continue at some point in 2017.

Jose Padilha and Eric Newman will continue to serve as executive producers on the show.

Speaking to Variety about continuing the show, Padilha said: "We'll stop when the drug trade stops. We'll stop when you stop. That's our pact with America."

The duo also spoke about focusing on 18 months of Pablo Escobar's life rather than 15 years, explaining: "It allowed us to slow down and live with the characters a little bit more than we could have last season. Now we're watching his empire collapse around him."

The news comes just days after the second season of Narcos was released onto Netflix, which received some brilliant reviews from many critics.

Seasons 1-2 of Narcos are available now for streaming in their entirety on the platform.
