Nadiya Hussain has revealed her children have inspired her during the pandemic.
The 35-year-old chef - who won 'The Great British Bake Off' in 2015 - has opened up on how Musa, 14, Dawud, and Maryam, 10, have kept her spirits up this year.
Appearing on ITV's 'Lorraine' on Thursday (10.12.20), she said: "We've got lockdown, they're missing their cousins, they're missing their family.
"So it's definitely tough, but like everybody else - honestly, genuinely, the resilience of children has shocked me. The kids in our neighbourhood, the kids at school - we could learn a thing or two from our children.
"The roles have reversed in our family, where I would be the one looking after them, I've found that my children have been really good at recognising when we're sad or we're struggling or we're not dealing with things.
"I think we should really pat on the back to our younger generation, because honestly, they have been amazing through all of this."
Nadiya also opened up on how the pandemic has brought her neighbourhood closer together, with people taking round food for each other and generally being there to lend a helping hand.
She added: "We're all just looking after each other. When somebody can't get out, we're just making sure that everyone's OK.
"Even though it was forced, it was something that needed to happen I suppose. It's allowed us to step back and stop for a moment, and look at what's important.
"Certainly for us as a family and as a neighbourhood, we've definitely been able to connect in a different way and just take time for us."
The star admitted being in lockdown made her appreciate her kids more, without the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
She explained: "One thing I realised I wasn't doing, I wasn't even looking my kids in the eye anymore. It was so fast that I wasn't actually stopping and just looking at them.
"I enjoy that now. I enjoy just holding their faces and just looking them in the eye, and saying, 'I have time for you.' "
