Nadiya Hussain spent four months "testing recipes" for her new cookbook.
The 36-year-old TV star - who shot to fame on 'The Great British Bake Off' in 2015 - tested her recipe ideas on her three kids before writing her new book, 'Nadiya’s Fast Flavours'.
Nadiya - who has Musa, 12, Dawyd, 11, and Maryam, eight - shared: "I use my kitchen for work and home and for four months I was testing recipes.
"During that period, I am completely consumed by the recipes and the kids don’t know if they are getting squid for breakfast or cake for dinner!"
Asked about her most unusual recipe - doughnut lamb burgers - Nadiya told 'The Graham Norton Show': "People always ask me if I write my recipes drunk. I don’t drink so imagine what they would be like if I did!
"I am British from an immigrant family, so I have a bit of everything in my cookbooks - I throw away the purist and make what I want."
Meanwhile, Nadiya recently revealed that she doesn’t like cake.
The TV star admitted to not being a fan of the calorific treat - despite making cakes en route to winning 'The Great British Bake Off' six years ago.
She said: "I don’t eat much cake. I don’t eat cake because I don’t really like cake that much. I think [it's] because I bake so much.
"I taste it, so when I’m tasting recipes I know what I like and what I don’t like. But as for sitting down with a whole slice of cake, I don’t do it often."
'The Graham Norton Show' is on BBC One on Friday (12.11.21) and available on BBC iPlayer.
