The 38-year-old chef shot to fame when she won 'Great British Bake Off' in 2015 and in the years since has carved out a successful career in the media but admitted that it is only recently that she has accepted that she is where she is because of her talent rather than just luck.

She told OK! Magazine: "I never imagined I would be where I am today. I am loving every second. When I wrote my first cookbook I thought, 'Well, this is the first and only cookbook I will ever write,' and here I am, still writing cookbooks. So that is pretty special. I don't take it for granted. kept saying to everyone in the crew, 'You guys have a much harder job than I do.' And they were like, 'You realise that none of us can do what you do? Like none of us can do what you do.' I'm like, 'That's not true...' And a few years ago, it dawned on me that you can't do this unless you're good at it. I have to believe I'm good at it. I can't run on luck forever!"

The 'Nadiya Bakes' star now hosts a series of cookery-themed programmes and makes occasional appearances on shows like 'This Morning' and 'Loose Women' but feels "very lucky" that her background has allowed her to remain humble.

I have a very different mindset now where I believe that I am good at it and I do believe that I am good at my job. The camera does not faze me one bit. I love, love, love what I do. I'm perfectly happy to be alone in front of the camera and don't feel scared and daunted any more. It's helped grow my confidence. It's tough because I work in an industry where there's a fine line between confidence and overconfidence. I'm very lucky in that I come from a background where I'm very humbled. It's like, 'Your job is just your job.' I love that I can keep my feet firmly on the ground!"
