The 38-year-old chef - who shot to fame after winning 'The Great British Bake Off' in 2015 - is looking forward to introducing flavours inspired by her British and Bangladeshi heritage in 'Nadiya's Simple Spices', a six-part series which will air on BBC Two and iPlayer later this year.

Each episode will see Nadiya cook four simple recipes to highlight how a single spice or a combination of her trusted eight favourites can create unique dishes for meals throughout the day, as well as offering tricks, tips and hacks to make thrifty meals.

In addition, chefs and bakers across the UK will help uncover the history of spices in the UK and how they have inspired the cooks.

Nadiya said in a statement: "It’s been incredible to film a series where I can draw on all the ingredients and techniques that were used in my family kitchen whilst growing up, fusing my British and Bangladeshi heritage together to create unique but simple recipes that highlight how fantastically simple using spices is in day-to-day home-cooked dishes. I can’t wait to share 'Simple Spices' with BBC viewers.”

Katy Fryer, Executive Producer for Wall To Wall Media, who are making the show added: “I’m so thrilled to be working with Nadiya again on this timely new series. Nadiya’s sharing the secrets of her spice drawer with us to create a whole host of fun, delicious and useful recipes.”

The BBC teased viewers are "in for a treat" with the new programme.

Patrick McMahon, BBC Commissioning Editor, said: “I’m delighted that Nadiya is returning to our screens with another mouth-watering new series. The dishes she has in store for us are packed with flavour, and so simple and affordable to create – viewers are in for a treat.”
