David Letterman is set to make his return to television, coming out of retirement with a six-episode, 60-minute Netflix original talk show series called My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. The first episode is set to debut on the streaming service this Friday, January 12, with new episodes to be made available each subsequent month after in 2018. You can check out the teaser trailer for the show below:

Somebody with huge pulling power, the line-up of guests for Letterman’s new series is astronomical, with the journalist inviting the likes of George Clooney, Tina Fey, Jay-Z, Malala Yousafzai, Howard Stern and even former President Barack Obama onto the set. Obama will serve as the first guest in this Friday’s episode, giving his first television talk show appearance since leaving the Oval Office.

Interviews will not only take place inside a studio setting, but outside in various locations, allowing Letterman and his guests to go deeper than ever before, with the usual levity and humour that the talk show host is renowned for.

Field segments will also be included, allowing Letterman to go to a number of different places and express his desire to dig deeper to topics related to whichever guest he has on in each episode.

Directed by Michael Bonfiglio, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction will be executive produced by Justin Wilkes, Dave Sirulnick, Jon Hamen and Aaron Bergeron, the latter of whom serves as the series producer for RadicalMedia – the production company behind the show, who are working alongside Letterman’s Worldwide Pants.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman launches on Netflix as a monthly event from Friday, January 12.
