A new Monty Python documentary will air in November.
The upcoming 90-minute show, 'Monty Python: The Meaning of Live', will be broadcast on UKTV's GOLD channel and will see the five surviving members of the comedy troupe, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin as they've never been seen before.
Monty PythonRoger Graef will direct the intimate documentary, which will also feature unseen footage from their early live shows as well as their latest reunion show, 'Monty Python Live (mostly) - One Down Five to Go', at London's The O2 this year, and he is delighted to be helming the one-off project.
Speaking at UKTV Live, a preview event to showcase the broadcaster's upcoming shows, he said: "The reason I'm doing it is because the Pythons had such a good time making these shows. They said, to my embarrassment and delight, 'We will only do it if Roger does it.'
"I've actually done four films with them so one way or another I've been through the wars with them.
"It's a wonderful experience because we're all collecting memories but at the same time dealing with the present experience.
"We were given terrific access backstage so this is the Pythons as nobody has ever seen them before.
"To say they were nervous is not the right word, I think they were uncertain."
The documentary will also feature footage from the comedy troupe's TV series and see stars such as Mike Myers, Eddie Izzard, Simon Pegg and Stephen Fry giving their insights.
