Molly-Mae Hague has called for anorexia to be taken "more seriously".
The former 'Love Island' star has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to Nikki Grahame - who passed away on Friday (09.04.21) after a long battle with anorexia - and Molly-Mae has urged society to treat the eating disorder with more seriousness.
She captioned a photo of the TV star: "Fly high Nikki. Taken by such a terrifying and terrible disease that must be taken more seriously. (sic)"
News of Nikki's death was confirmed over the weekend by the GoFundMe page that was set up to raise money for her healthcare costs.
A statement on the page read: "It is with great sadness, we have to let you know that our dear friend Nikki passed away in the early hours of Friday 9th April.
"It breaks our hearts to know that someone who is so precious was taken from us at such a young age. Nikki not only touched the lives of millions of people, but also her friends and family who will miss her immensely.
"We would like to request privacy at this difficult time, while Nikki's friends and family process the sad news.
"Full details will be released as and when we know them."
The TV personality - who rose to fame on 'Big Brother' in 2006 - checked into a private hospital last month after friends helped to raise £65,000 to cover her care costs.
And Nikki’s mum Sue recently discussed her daughter's anorexia battle, revealing that the closure of gyms amid the pandemic had a big impact on the TV star.
She said: "With COVID, it sounds crazy but stuff like gyms closing impacted her.
"In order for her to eat she needs to know she can exercise, so when they closed it was quite a worry, the isolation as well.
"I asked her if she would come and stay with me but she said she needs to be in her home."
