Miranda Hart could be set to bring her TV sitcom back

Creator Miranda Hart has dropped a huge hint that she could bring the BBC One sitcom, in which she played the titular character, back to the small screen, admitting she is "definitely thinking about it".

Speaking on ‘The Gaby Roslin Podcast’, Miranda said: “I think the love for them is still there.

“The audience has continued to grow because young audiences can watch it and … I just love sitcoms.

“I believe in the importance of laughter even more than when I started out in my comedy career so I’m definitely thinking about it.

“Hopefully, the circumstances will align one day.”

The show - which revolves around socially inept Miranda, who constantly found herself in awkward situations - first aired on BBC Two in 2009, then later ran on BBC One in 2012, and fans were sad to say goodbye when the last episode aired on New Year’s Day in 2015.

Miranda, who developed the series from her semi-autobiographical BBC Radio 2 comedy ‘Miranda Hart’s Joke Shop’, admitted creating her character became a part of her.

She added: “I think when you create characters like that, that you’ve lived with for a long time, they do become part of you.

“I do think of them from time to time, a bit like you would a friend that you haven’t seen for a while, ‘Oh, what would they be up to…’

“And so I’ve definitely had some thoughts of where they might be and what would happen with them all.

“The circumstances haven’t quite aligned. But it is something that I would say that I’m now not ruling out.

“Whereas a couple of years after it had finished, I completely ended it and that was that.”
