Miranda Hart will not appear in the fifth series of 'Call the Midwife'.
The 42-year-old comedian has confirmed her character Chummy will not feature in the next instalment of the BBC One period drama as she's been too busy since landing a role in Hollywood earlier this year.
She told Mirror Online: "I am very sad not to have been able to be involved in series five but, on the plus side, maybe Chummy can come back in the next series an enlightened, crazed 60s hippy, having an affair with Paul McCartney. Watch this space."
Chummy has been a fan favourite since 'Call the Midwife' first began in 2012, however, she appeared in just two episodes in series four.
And although the 'Miranda' star will not be appearing in the next series, she's confessed she "can't wait" to watch it.
Miranda appeared alongside Jude Law, Jason Statham, Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne earlier this year.
A spokesperson for the show said: "Unfortunately scheduling clashes have made it impossible for Miranda to appear in this series of 'Call the Midwife'.
"But Chummy is alive and well and she will always be warmly welcomed back to Nonnatus House."
'Call the Midwife' returns for a festive special on Christmas Day.
