Michelle Mone has cancelled her wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 48-year-old lingerie tycoon and her billionaire fiance Doug Barrowman - who proposed in 2018 - were due to tie the knot in the chapel at the House of Lords in London in the next few weeks but they have decided to postpone the nuptials due to the global health crisis.
Michelle told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Everything was done. Five bridesmaids dresses. Seven ushers. Everything was boxed up, ready to go. My dress was ready to step into, and so was an evening gown. Guests were flying in from all over the world, all of our family and friends. It's the biggest dream isn't it -- having everyone together?
"Then, two weeks ago, we got ourselves a gin and tonic and sat down. We both looked at each other and agreed we had to postpone.
"It's heartbreaking, but there was never an option. We could never take a risk with a single one of our guests. Even if it has blown over by then, how could you? You'd never forgive yourself if anything happened."
And although Michelle and her fiance don't have to worry about the financial fallout from postponing their wedding, Michelle admitted she is devastated for other couple's who have to cancel their big day and will lose out financially.
She said: "My heart just goes out to all the other couples. We don't have the money worries, but there will be so many who have put every penny of their savings into their weddings. They will have lost deposits. I just hope hotels and venues are sympathetic, particularly to those who don't have insurance."
Michelle and Doug have rescheduled their nuptials for August and she added: "Then we will have that party. And by God we will all need it."
