Michelle Keegan has been confirmed for new BBC drama Ten Pound Poms

The 'Our Girl' and 'Game of Thrones' stars have joined the cast of the show alongside 'Luther' star Warren Brown and Australian actors Rob Collins, Leon Ford, Declan Coyle, David Field, Stephen Curry, Hattie Hook, Finn Treacy and Emma Hamilton.

The six-part series will tell the story of a group of Brits who swap post-war Britain for Australia in 1956.

Writer Danny Brocklehurst - who Michelle worked with on 'Ordinary Lies', her first TV drama after she departed 'Coronation Street' in 2014 - said: "'Ten Pounds Poms' demands an ensemble cast that we are always rooting for, actors we love and want to succeed.

"I am thrilled to have found those actors. It is a delight to welcome so much exciting Australian talent as well as working with the brilliant Faye and Warren for the first time.

"This is my third outing with the wonderful Michelle Keegan and I'm positive we will make another winner together."

The drama will tell of Annie and Terry Roberts - played by Faye and Warren - who struggle with poor living conditions at their migrant hostel in Australia, and local attitudes towards immigrants test them in ways they couldn’t have imagined.

Michelle will star as a nurse, Kate, who arrives Down Under without her fiancé and will do whatever it takes to try and rewrite her devastating past.

Other characters include Bill (Leon), who has lost his family business back home, and teenager Stevie (Declan) who comes from a troubled background.

Filming is currently taking place in Australia.
