The former 'Coronation Street' and 'EastEnders' star admitted last year she wished people wouldn't label her as a "soap actress", but now the 59-year-old star has said she wouldn't rule out appearing in a serial drama.

She said: "I'd never say never about going into a soap."

However, the former Cindy Beale star admitted she is keen to take on "different roles" in the future.

Speaking to Woman's Weekly magazine, she added: "I'm a jobbing actor and I want to be versatile and to be challenged.

"I know that sounds crazy at 59, but I still want to play so many different roles in the theatre and on TV."

Michelle - who played Stella Price on 'Corrie' from 2011 to 2014 - recently admitted she gets recognised on a daily basis from her 'EastEnders' days as Cindy - who she played from 1988 to 1998 - and believes the character has such a great fanbase because she was no-nonsense.

She said: "When I went into 'Corrie', it brought the whole 'EastEnders' thing back again.

"Not a day goes by without people shouting 'Cindy!' in the street.

"People loved her because she behaved in a way that women didn't behave on TV then."

Michelle has advised young actors to take on a soap role - but not to stay "too long".

She said: "I tell young people who I mentor, maybe do a soap, but don't stay too long.

"It's great grounding for learning your craft, learning lines quickly and knowing how to behave on set."

In 2019, Michelle admitted she found it "frustrating" that people labelled her as a "soap actress".

She tweeted: "I wish people would not label me a soap actress it's very frustrating indeed."
