Michaela Strachan has revealed she's now feeling "perky" following her breast reconstruction procedure which came after a double mastectomy to treat her breast cancer.
The presenter says she's now "feeling great" and announced her decision to have the life-saving mastectomy in a You magazine article.
Speaking on Lorraine today she said: "I'm feeling great. I wrote that article for You magazine myself six weeks ago and since then I have had reconstruction so I am feeling 'perky'."
She went on to admit she'd been worried following her diagnosis because she thought the cancer may have spread to her back.
"I had terrible back pain from doing [the reality show] 'Splash' and I thought maybe that's not just 'Splash' maybe I've got secondary cancer and maybe I'm not going to make it - all those thoughts go through your head and it is a very frightening time."
Once she was given the option to have a mastectomy she took a no-nonsense approach.
"I was terribly pragmatic about it. Once I got over the shock then it was practical, 'OK, when can we fit it in?'"
Michaela went on to praise "brave" partner Nick Chevallier who lost his first wife to colon cancer for his support: "I am so blessed that they found it early" she added.
