'Coronation Street' actor Michael Le Vell is "overjoyed" his character is getting a new love interest.
The 50-year-old actor, who plays car mechanic Kevin Webster on the ITV soap, was cleared of sex abuse charges last year and is said to be thrilled bosses have chosen to include him in a major new storyline.
A source said: "Michael was very emotional when he saw the script for the first time.
"There were tears in his eyes.
"Now that he has got his hands on a juicy plot line once again he is overjoyed."
Kevin is to fall for troublemaker Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) - who is set to return to the cobbles after a 22 year hiatus - after she finds him on an online dating website, but producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed he may regret getting involved with her.
Meanwhile, Kevin's on-screen wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) has teased his new relationship will not go down well on the street.
She said: "Certainly Kevin is pleased to see her [Jenny] initially but he is about the only one who is ... We just had some scripts in and there is a brilliant hour-long episode coming up with Sally."
A source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "Kevin's love life in the show has already had more ups and downs than the average rollercoaster.
"And now he's about to board the big dipper."
