EastEnders' David Wicks is to be left for dead.

The hunky silverfox - played by Michael French - will return to Albert Square with blonde bombshell Naomi (Lisa Maxwell) on his arm as he plans to visit his daughter Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), but he lands himself in an ugly situation when his dodgy past catches up with him.

David's former flame Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) is left shaken when she sees him with his new woman, but after he collapses on her doorstop following the brutal attack, she lets him stay with her, which doesn't go down well with her new man Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra).

An insider told Soaplife magazine: "David is one man in Carol's life she will always have a soft spot for. He's her first love, but all he's ever done is let her down."

Michael - who first played David between 1993 and 1996 and returned for a brief two-week stint last year when his on-screen mother Pat Evans (Pam St. Clement) was dying of cancer - has been promised "major" storylines on his return.

A source previously said: "David is a massive character and was always hugely popular with fans. Michael's return to the soap is a huge coup for the BBC, and viewers will see his character back to his charming, cunning best. He has also been assured of a couple of major, forthcoming storylines.

"He's a bit older but David still sees himself as a womaniser and is sure to break a few hearts third time around."
