The Spice Girls star will make her live presenting debut on the daytime programme as she takes over from Steph McGovern for a special one-off episode of 'Mel B's Packed Lunch' on September 10.

She said: "It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to spice up lunchtime television.

"I'm also really proud to be part of Channel 4's Black to Front Project, that's something to really celebrate."

She will be joined on the show by retired footballer and regular guest Chris Kamara, while resident chef Freddy Forster will be on hand in the kitchen.

The programme - which broadcasts from Mel's hometown of Leeds every weekday - will feature the usual blend of celebrity guests, real life issues, topical chats and consumer items.

Viewers' favourite regular lunchmates will also be in the studio to join in the conversation and offer their own opinions and perspectives.

C4's Black to Front takeover aims to put Black talent in the spotlight, with a host of guest appearances across the whole schedule.

Sir Trevor McDonald is set to replace Anne Robinson as the host of 'Countdown', and he'll joined in the studio by poet and playwright Lemn Sissay - who will appear in Dictionary Corner - and maths prodigy Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon, handling the numbers round.

Elsewhere, AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan will join forces for a one-off revival of 'The Big Breakfast', which will be back in its original location of the Lock Keepers' Cottage in East London.

Channel 4’s Deputy Director of Programmes Kelly Webb-Lamb wants Black to Front to create a “lasting legacy across the UK TV industry”.

She previously said: “From the voices that introduce the shows to the people appearing on screen, across social and All 4, the entire day will be fronted by black talent and will tell the stories of Black British communities in a demonstration of black excellence.

“Behind the camera Channel 4 is working together with our production partners to shape ambitious and meaningful off-screen commitments, making sure that Black to Front lives on beyond one day, accelerating careers and bringing about significant change that will leave a lasting legacy across the UK TV industry.”
