Mel Giedroyc has pulled out of touring pantomime 'Mother Goose' due to "personal reasons".
The 54-year-old TV presenter was due to portray the Goose in the panto, opposite 'Lord of the Rings' actor Sir Ian McKellen and comedian John Bishop, but she has made the "difficult decision" to withdraw.
She said in a statement: "Due to personal reasons, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the forthcoming production of 'Mother Goose'."
Former 'Great British Bake Off' presenter Mel also admitted she cannot wait to see the production herself because she and others need a "bit of joy".
She added: "I am thankful to the producers of the show for being so understanding and wish everyone involved in the production a fantastic tour throughout the UK and Ireland.
"Now, more than ever we all need a bit of joy, and I can’t wait to see it myself. I know it is going to be fantastic."
A spokesman from Theatre Royal Brighton said: "Everyone in the show sends love and best wishes to Mel and her family. Casting for the role of The Goose will be announced soon."
In June, it was revealed Mel was to front 'The Really Really Rude Puppet Show'.
She called the new Channel 4 show a "celebration of erotic fan fiction" as each week a different star will read out a steamy story written about themselves by an amateur internet author, which will be brought to life by a series of puppets.
She said: "This is going to be a celebration of erotic fan fiction. With puppets. Imagine a world where Jackie Collins meets 'Thunderbirds'.
"I’m so looking forward to a trip to 'Love Island' ... via Tracy Island."
