Mel Giedroyc will dance to ‘Ice Ice Baby’ during the 'Strictly Come Dancing' Christmas special later this month.
The 53-year-old presenter will be partnered with Neil Jones for the festive edition of the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance competition, and it has now been confirmed the pair will be dancing a couple’s choice routine to the Vanilla Ice hit.
Mel and Neil’s routine will have some stiff competition from the other five stars taking part, as they have now all been assigned their dances and songs.
Adrian Chiles and Jowita Przystal will be taking on the American Smooth which will be set to ‘White Christmas’ by Otis Redding, while Moira Stewart will perform a Salsa with Aljaz Skorjanec to Justin Bieber’s rendition of ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town’.
Singer Anne-Marie – who is partnered with Graziano Di Prima – will try to win the show with a Cha Cha routine set to ‘Feliz Navidad’ by Gwen Stefani, and Fred Sirieix will take to the dancefloor with Dianne Buswell to perform a Quickstep to ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ by Shakin Stevens.
And finally, Jay Blades and Luba Mushtuk will be using ‘Hooky Street’ – best known as the closing theme for ‘Only Fools and Horses’ – by John Sullivan and Ronnie Hazlehurst as the backdrop for their Jive.
Each of the celebrities and their professional partners will perform a Christmas inspired routine with the hope of impressing the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, Head Judge Shirley Ballas, and the voting audience.
The coronavirus pandemic meant there was no 'Strictly' Christmas special in 2020, but since 2014, the festive episodes have seen former contestants go head-to-head.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’s festive special will air on Christmas Day (25.12.21) on BBC One and will also be available on the BBC iPlayer.
