The 'EastEnders' actor is nominated in the Newcomer category for the upcoming annual awards show, and he can't wait to take his gran to the spectacle, which takes place at London's The O2 on January 28th.

He said: "She keeps sending me new things she wants, clutch bags and that. There's no asking, it's just, 'I'm going to need.'

"She's great, my world.

"It's always nice to be recognised for your work. I'm excited for it."

One of Max's biggest storylines since he joined the BBC One soap as Ben Mitchell has seen his character hook up with Callum 'Halfway' Highway, who came out last year, and he has been delighted with the public reaction to the plot.

He said: "What's great about Ballum is it's the story of two working class boys who have found common ground.

"For Callum it's the story of coming out, and Ben is that release figure to allow that to happen.

"We've had people feel like they're able to come out and be themselves, and that's a lovely thing to hear."

Max admits there is "always going to be turbulence" in Ben's world, and he relishes the fast-paced environment of working on a soap.

Speaking on 'Lorraine', he added: "There's no rehearsal time. I think, as an actor, that's one of the best skills you can have, to be constantly thinking of the next move."

Max's comments come after it was recently revealed that Ben had the most 'duff duffs' on 'EastEnders' in 2019.

The longtime character topped the charts for the soap's infamous cliffhanger endings last year, with an impressive 23 dramatic conclusions over the current actor's first year in the role.

The annual 'duff duff' countdown was put together by fan Tomski12 on the Digital Spy soaps forum, with Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) and Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) following closely behind with 21 and 18 respectively.
