Max Bowden feels "so proud" to work on 'EastEnders' and is pleased his special episode was "well received".
Last night's (01.06.20) 'EastEnders' ep focused on the 25-year-old star's character Ben Mitchell's hearing loss, with viewers only able to hear muffled sounds that Max's alter-ego can hear, and the actor is delighted he works on a programme that is always "striving to break boundaries and innovate".
He wrote on Twitter: "I am so so thankful for all of your beautiful messages. And am so glad that it's been received so well. So so proud of our show. Always striving to break boundaries and innovate. And you guys are the best fan base in the world. Truly thank you x (sic)"
Just minutes before the episode, he wrote: "I hope you enjoy the ep guys. Jamie Annett who directed is a hero. Jon Sen has worked wonders. Lucky to work on this show. (sic)"
The ep was shot from Ben's perspective and saw him cheat death on a number of occasions, including nearly being run over by a van in Albert Square, because he failed to hear it approaching.
He also learned Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) had cheated on his best mate Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) with Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson), and then blamed her abortion on Ben's hearing loss.
But things went from bad to worse for Ben, as he later turned up unannounced at his father Phil Mitchell's dodgy warehouse job with gangster Donny Hardcastle (Paul Usher) after realising the crook was trying to set his dad up.
Ben was captured by one of Danny's cronies, and the gangster then fired a gun right next to his ear, leaving him unable to hear anything at all.
However, Ben and Phil did manage to escape the warehouse with the money they had come for, and following a police car chase they got away.
Prior to the ep, Max admitted he had put in the "hardest graft ever" to film the special episode.
He wrote on Twitter: "Can't wait for you guys to see this. Was the hardest graft ever, and hope it's worth it for you all. (sic)"
