Matthew MacNabb has been dumped from ‘Love Island’.
The 26-year-old strategic marketing consultant has become the latest person to be ousted from the ITV2 reality series after he was the only single male left at the end of Wednesday’s (11.08.21) shock re-coupling.
New arrival Priya Gopaldas had the final say as she was the last to couple up, and had to choose between Matthew – whom she had been getting to know since her arrival into the villa this week – and new boy Brett Staniland.
In her speech, Priya said: “To be honest, it’s been a really tough decision because two incredible boys have shown interest and it’s been such a short period of time getting to know both of them.
“But I feel like with one of the boys, conversation flows really easily. I’m really comfortable with him, and it helps that I could stare into his eyes all day.”
As he prepared to leave the villa, Matthew – who was previously ditched by Kaz Kamwi when she decided to take back her former partner Tyler Cruickshank – said the result came as a “shock”, as he thought Priya would pick him.
But the Belfast hunk said the thing he will miss the most is his fellow islanders who have become a “family” to him.
He said: “Priya’s decision tonight was a shock to me. I felt like we had a really strong connection and we had something good that could’ve worked. But they’re my family in there, and I love those guys, so that’s the toughest bit for me.”
The couples in the villa after the recoupling are Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank, Millie Court and Liam Reardon, Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish, Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, Mary Bedford and Aaron Simpson, and Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland.
‘Love Island’ continues on Thursday (12.08.21) at 9pm on ITV2 and the ITV Hub.
