Matt Smith and David Tennant
Steven Moffat thinks Matt Smith and David Tennant are a "tremendous double act" in 'Doctor Who'.
The sci-fi show's head writer and executive producer has praised Eleventh Doctor Matt's on-screen chemistry with his predecessor during filming for the special 50th anniversary episode and claims the pair got "giggly with each other" on set.
He told SFX magazine: "It is ... a tremendous double-act. They're naturally funny together. Enough alike and enough dissimilar.
"They're not broody, upset Doctors. [Matt and David] were having such a good time together that they brought that out."
Eleventh Doctor Matt - who will make his last appearance in the Christmas episode before Peter Capaldi takes control of the TARDIS - will be joined by Tenth Doctor David for special adventure 'The Day of the Doctor', and Steven says the eccentric duo's dialogue provides excellent comic value because they are different versions of the same character.
The screenwriter added: "When you're talking to yourself there are no limitations, there's no holding back. You wouldn't be kind or courteous.
"At the same time, because they are two lovable, madcap, caffeinated Doctors, they're also quite fanboy-ish about each other."
'The Day of the Doctor' also stars Billie Piper, Jenna-Louise Coleman and John Hurt and will air on November 23.
Moffat insisted the comical dynamic wasn't intentional and was the product of a "lovely accident".
