Matt Smith has said farewell to 'Doctor Who' fans and thanked them for their support in a video message.
The 30-year-old star - who recently announced he was quitting the titular role in the BBC One sci-fi series after this year's Christmas special - is seen holding up sheets of paper with hand-written messages on them in the two-minute clip.
In the video, which was filmed on the streets of Detroit, Michigan, he holds up notes stating: "Doctor Who Land ... thank you to the marvellous crew.
"To the one with the nose and the funny bones ... and the impossible girl in the short red dress...and to the pen, the scribe."
Matt - who has portrayed the iconic character for four years - then thanked the programme's showrunner Steven Moffat, calling him "my mate Moff", but made it clear his biggest appreciation was for the show's loyal fans.
He wrote: "To you, I owe the biggest thank you."
Matt then starts speaking, saying: "This is a message to say thank you for all your support over the past four years.
"To Steven Moffat and all the brilliant cast and crew who have made this whole journey marvellous.
"But what makes this job truly spectacular is the fans, and the support from the fans.
"It's truly unique and means a lot ... so thank you!"
