Matt Goss is already eyeing the Strictly Come Dancing final

The Bros singer is hoping to have "fun" in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition but has set his sights on reaching the final as he doesn't see the point in taking part just to "lose".

He said: “I’d like to get as far as I can. I’m not doing 'Strictly' to lose it, I’m doing 'Strictly' to get to the end.

“But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for all the other contestants.

“Hopefully I’ll have fun too.

“I love commanding a stage and I love changing the shape of an audience, transporting and elevating them.”

The 53-year-old star insisted neither he nor his partner Chantal Brown are concerned about the so-called 'Strictly' Curse damaging their relationship.

He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “The 'Strictly' curse doesn’t concern me at all.

“I’m there to learn and that’s it. I respect the dancers and their ability. I want to do my best.

“Chantal is very supportive. She wants me to smash it. She is going to come and watch.

“She says, ‘go and have the best time. I want you to have an amazing experience’."

The 'When Will I Be Famous' hitmaker isn't worried about the programme's gruelling rehearsal schedule either.

He said: "I do pilates, I swim and I box, plus the stamina of four shows a week is pretty incredible.

“I’ve got a tan from being in America, but I hear that fake tans are mandatory on 'Strictly' — and I’m up for it.”

One of the reasons why Matt signed up for the show is in honour of his beloved mother Carol, who died of cancer in 2014.

He said: “I feel highly observed by my mother. I say that with peace, I don’t say it from a sad place.

“I feel very observed from a much higher level. It’s a nice feeling to have this all-encompassing sense of observation from people you’ve lost.

“'Strictly Come Dancing' is something I wanted to do for her and I would have loved to have shared it with her.”
