Mat Riley has been eliminated from 'The Great British Bake Off'.
The 37-year-old fireman became the sixth contestant to be booted off the BBC One baking competition last night (16.09.15) after he struggled to keep his cool during Victorian week.
He said: "I felt from the beginning that I was surrounded by better bakers, my knowledge was nowhere near that level.
"I knew I was out of my depth in Victorian week with the techniques and the bakes involved. Some of the recipes we were given in advance but I never practised because I didn't ever expect to get to week seven."
Although Mat was named star baker during pastry week last week, he failed to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with his Charlotte Russe and Tennis cake and he's now vowed to never attempt the recipes again.
He shared: "I know for sure I won't ever make a Charlotte Russe ever again! It went quite badly on the show but I said to Mary it was actually the best one I ever made. You are trying to cage a jelly with one of the world's flimsiest biscuits, it's a crazy thing to make."
Meanwhile, Tamal Ray took home the title of star baker for the first time and admitted he'd achieved his goals of not going home in the first week, baking something the judges thought was tasty and being named star baker just once.
Mat will join Jo Brand on 'The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice' on BBC Two tomorrow (18.09.15) at 9pm.
