Pat Cash would like to be buried in his ‘Masked Singer’ costume.
The former Australian tennis star competed on the latest series of the mystery talent show singing as Bagpipes but he was booted off the ITV series on Saturday night (15.01.21).
Pat relished his time on the show - which is presented by Joel Dommett - and he chose the Bagpipes outfit to pay homage to his Scottish roots.
Pat became the fourth celebrity to get unmasked after Heather Small as Chandelier, Gloria Hunniford as Snow Leopard and Will Young as Lion Fish.
The 1987 Wimbledon champion lost out in a sing-off with his rendition of Dusty Springfield's ‘I Only Want To Be With You’ against Poodle who sang Clean Bandit’s 'Symphony'. He was correctly identified by panellist Davina McCall who managed to guess the star before his unmasking.
When Pat was asked when he would like to wear his outlandish outfit again, he joked to the Daily Mirror newspaper's Diary: "Is it wrong to say at my own funeral?
“That would sum up my personality. Which not a lot of people other than the ones close to me know. Don’t take yourself too seriously.”
The father of four - who shares two children with former girlfriend Norwegian model Anne-Britt Kristiansen and twin boys with current wife Emily Bendit – said that he would love to be buried in his bagpipe costume.
Pat, 56, is a self-confessed “frustrated rock star” and his only issue with his Bagpipes costume was that he couldn't emulate his favourite singers by bellowing into a microphone stand.
He said: "I wanted a microphone stand so I could emulate David Coverdale from Whitesnake, Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin and Freddie Mercury, but my nose kept getting in the way so I gave that idea away after a few mishaps.”
Pat, whose musician friends include the band members of Iron Maiden, said that his buddies would be shocked over his appearance.
He concluded: “They would all have me way down at the bottom of a list of celebrities to do this."
