Mary Berry has joked her husband would divorce her if she did 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 81-year-old baking legend may have just turned her back on the 'Great British Bake Off' out of loyalty to the BBC after it was nabbed by Channel 4 but she's adamant bosses will never be able to persuade her to sign up to their ballroom and latin show because her spouse Paul J.M. Hunnings, whom she married in 1996, would be appalled.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the National Television Awards, held at London's O2 Arena, on Wednesday (26.01.17) after she picked up Best TV Judge, she said: "I'd never ever ever ever do it. I'm the most clumsy person. My husband would leave me and my children would chuck me out so I'm not doing 'Strictly Come Dancing' by a mile."
The loveable kitchen mastermind didn't have to think twice about walking away from 'GBBO' after the outcome was revealed last year but she's still so proud of the show.
She explained: "I think the 'Great British Bake Off' is such a wonderful programme and it's got all the young baking, it's got some of the fathers baking and even some more mums. Everyone is enjoying. On a wet day, what's better than baking?.
"I've done seven series on 'Bake Off' and I've loved every single one of them but I felt I wanted to stay with the BBC. I'm doing lots with them. I have nothing but great memories of the 'Great British Bake Off'. It's moving on, it'll be different but just wait and see."
It was rumoured Mary fell out with her former co-judge Paul Hollywood - who was the only one to move to Channel 4 with the baking show - after he took the money and ran but she's adamant she'll still support him when the new series hits television screens.
She said: "Of course I'll be seeing what they're up to when it airs on Channel 4. I want to see Paul Hollywood because we're still great friends."
