Marvin Humes was offered a spot on 'The Masked Singer' before Aston Merrygold.
The 35-year-old singer reportedly rejected the chance to appear on the first series of the ITV show because JLS were planning a reunion at the time - but TV bosses ultimately managed to secure Aston's talents for the recently-concluded season.
A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Marvin was offered a huge amount of cash to take part in the first series but he turned it down as JLS were in talks for their reunion.
"He was the driving force behind getting the group back together and didn’t want any distractions. Despite it being one of the most lucrative contracts he’s ever been offered, Marvin decided to focus on his DJ and presenting commitments as well as the reunion.
"He could have banked a nice little earner before Aston got the call for series two."
Aston came third as Robin on 'The Masked Singer', and the 33-year-old star recently admitted that his on-screen strut was inspired by Conor McGregor.
The singer admitted to mimicking the UFC star's unique stride in a bid to throw the judges off the scent.
Aston shared: "I was really kind of Conor McGregor, you know, swagger. It was outland-ish. It was fun.
"It took a lot of mental strain on you as well because you need to really think about this character. You kind of get a bit paranoid because I needed to be ruffling the feathers a little bit.
"Anyone who could have tapped into my brain at that point would be like, ‘This guy’s f****** nuts’, because just the thought processes were so out there."
