With a closer runtime to the US than ever before, Marvel's Agent Carter will return to FOX Sundays from January 17 next year.

After a dramatic first season which saw Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, she was sidelined by chauvinistic, 'traditional' male colleagues who didn't rate her chances at getting much done properly.

Risking it all to prove them all wrong and to help out her old friend Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), she embarked on a secret mission with Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy) which led to a blossoming friendship.

At the end of the season, Peggy managed to stop the spread of a deadly poisonouos gas in New York City, and a heartbreaking scene saw her finally say goodbye to Steve Rogers, the love of her life, as she poured the last remaining vial of his blood into the river.

Though details surrounding season two are scarce, we do know the story will pick up a year after the events of the first season. Dedicated to now fighting new atomic age threats following World War II, Peggy leaves New York for Los Angeles and takes up her most dangerous assignment to-date.

Discovering a new friend and perhaps a new love, she finds out that the bright lights of Hollywood could in fact simply be masking a sinister threat.
