The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is, as well all know, a force that cannot seem to be reckoned with. They have released incredible movies over the years, and ever since last year (2021), the studio seems to have mastered TV shows, also.
Marvel and Disney have released a total of six shows onto Disney+ now, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, Hawkeye, and Moon Knight, which had its third episode release earlier this week (on April 13th, 2022).
Fans are clearly loving the shows that have already released, and are more than excited for what’s to come, including Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Secret Invasion.
Marvel plans to submit Hawkeye and Moon Knight for the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series categories, Loki will be entered for Outstanding Drama Series, and What If...? is to be submitted for the Outstanding Animated Program category at the 74th Primetime Emmy.
Moon Knight, which is currently streaming on Disney+, is among the four shows that Marvel will be submitting for Emmys. Emmy will be honouring the best in TV, celebrating series that released between June 1st, 2021, and May 31st, 2022; nominations will be announced on July 12th, 2022.
However, just because these shows are to be submitted for an Emmy, that unfortunately does not secure them a spot. While Loki holds the title of most-watched MCU show on Disney+, it is likely to secure a spot where it may win an Emmy.
Loki will be going up against some other popular shows, such as Succession and Euphoria, as well as newcomers like Yellowjackets and Severance.
The 73rd Primetime Emmy saw Marvel’s WandaVision earn a whopping 23 nominations, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had five.
There is a high chance that, out of the four shows Marvel plans to submit, at least one of the series will be accepted and given the chance to win an Emmy; we will have to wait until July to find out if any got through.
As someone who has seen every episode of every Marvel show, I can only agree with Marvel’s choices for their Emmy submissions.
Loki seems like the studio’s best shot for getting a show accepted, as it is the most-viewed Disney+ series. However, despite Moon Knight only just releasing its third episode, I believe it will make a decent impact, and I hope to see it nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Marvel knows what they’re doing, that much is clear, and I cannot wait to see what shows made it to the Primetime Emmys.
