Grey's Anatomy fans may still be reeling following the death of Derek Shepherd last season, but a potential replacement sees the show bosses trying to repent for their sins.
Joining the cast of the ABC series is Martin Henderson as a series regular surgeon, according to reports on TVLine.
Previously starring in Shonda Rhimes' short-lived 2011 medical drama Off The Map, he's no stranger to taking on the male lead role in a show such as Grey's.
Yet to confirm whether Henderson will reprise the role of Dr Ben Keeton or take a new one on altogether, Rhimes has crossed paths on her shows in the past.
Patrick Dempsey left Grey's Anatomy earlier this year after 11 seasons leading the way, when Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd was killed off in a brutal car accident.
Henderson has most recently starred in The Red Road, also appearing in The Ring, Secrets & Lies and the music video for Britney Spears' 'Toxic'.
He's expected to make his Grey's debut in the season 12 premiere on Thursday, September 24 on ABC.
