Martin Compston joked it was "interesting" being set on fire while filming 'The Rig'.
The 38-year-old actor - who plays Fulmer Hamilton in the supernatural drama series - likes to "get a bit physical" during filming but didn't realise he'd pushed himself too far during one particular scene.
He told Britain's GQ magazine: “It was one of my more interesting days at work. A lot of the time as actors we’re sitting around drinking tea so I like to get a bit physical when I can.
“At first, I thought it was amazing, I was on fire and I couldn’t feel a thing and then all of a sudden it’s getting a wee bit hot.
“[That] was apparently not supposed to happen but I kept going because nobody said cut.
“You just assume everything is going to be okay. As soon as they realised something was up, they came over with the blankets and fire extinguishers."
Martin insisted he's suffered no ill-effects from the accident and has put it behind him.
He added: "I was alright, my back got a bit of a tan, but what other job in the world would you be able to do that?”
The Scottish star is best known for his portrayal of DS Steve Arnott in 'Line of Duty' and he recently confirmed he has discussed the possibility of returning for a seventh season with showrunner Jed Mercurio and co-stars Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar.
He said: “Me, Jed, Vicky and Adrian had a sit-down and a big conversation last year just to see if we all honestly wanted to go again,
“It is definitely on the table. That talk was in April and from then nothing's changed. All we've said is that we'd be up for doing one more at some point but none of us have signed on.”
