Martin Compston has admitted working with the 'Line of Duty' cast again is just a matter of "timing".
The 39-year-old actor is keen to reunite with co-stars Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure and while he hasn't offered any details on a return for the BBC police corruption drama - which ended with its sixth season almost two years ago - he is hopeful.
He told The Sun newspaper: "We’d all love to work together again but we’re all doing different stuff.
"We’re all running around. It’s just timing, and to get to the same point.”
When it comes to the huge love fans have for the show - and their desire for more - Martin is delighted to see that passion.
He added: “It’s testament to what we created that everybody is still desperate for more. I love that people ask about it. The day people stop, it’ll be a sad day.”
Following 'Soccer Aid' this weekend, Martin is set to shoot the second season of Amazon Prime Video's 'The Rig', and he would then potentially be free to reprise his role as DS Steve Arnott.
However, Vicky - who plays DI Kate Fleming - will soon be filming another series of ITV drama 'Trigger Point', while Adrian (Ted Hastings) could be back for more 'Ridley'.
Martin explained: "[Creator Jed Mercurio] never stops writing, Vicky’s putting bombs out, Aidan’s a singing detective, I’m off on an oil rig.
"The truth is, we’ve not signed on for anything at the moment. There’s just nothing at the minute. That does not mean it won’t happen.
Just at this point, I genuinely don’t know. But we’ve always taken time off. Probably if this happened 20 years ago, I’d have been more like, ‘Oh, I need to get away from it’. You need to do something else. It’s the thing I’m most known for and I’m incredibly proud of it.”
