The 55-year-old quizzer is hoping to break America after settling on a reported six-figure sum to appear on the US version of the ITV quiz show, which will be show on ABC.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Mark secretly relocated to LA last month - and has been having the time of his life. ABC poached him earlier this year because they felt the current Chaser panel was missing a bit of spark. After a screen test, they discovered Mark polled incredibly well with US audiences - and he was offered the gig on the spot. They reckon Mark could become one of the biggest UK exports in recent times. Angelenos are famously health and weight obsessed. But TV execs reckon Mark has a real Clark Kent look about him - and he will be a real hit with the ladies."

Mark is set to still appear on the UK version of the show, which is hosted by Bradley Walsh.

He previously revealed fans always ask him to "pick them up".

Admitting he commonly gets asked the strange request when he makes appearances at Universities during Freshers’ Week, he said: "The weird ones are the ones that ask me to pick them up. I made a promise I would only do it with the people I love and secondly, I am getting old.

"But some people can't take no for an answer. It's fun though, you get all the weird and wonderful shots. It's lovely meeting all the students though."
