Mark 'Billy' Billingham has admitted it was "sad" to see Ant Middleton depart 'SAS: Who Dares Wins'.
Ant was axed from the Channel 4 survival series over his "personal conduct", but Billy - who is still working with the star on the Australian version of the programme, 'SAS Australia' - insisted "the show is bigger than all of us".
He said: "He's going to stay part of it out in Australia, and the team works great together.
"It's sad to see him go off the UK version, but the show is bigger than all of us."
Billy also confirmed Channel 4 have appointed a new chief instructor on the UK show, and he has worked with him "over many years".
Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', he added: "The new guy coming in, I won't give his name away because I don't think they've released it yet.
"I've worked with him over many years. So, one in and one out. That's the way it is.
"We'll miss Ant, but we're still working together out here and it's going really well."
Ant recently insisted he's "too hot to handle for the UK" after he was axed from the show, and he admitted his relationship with the broadcaster ended "sourly".
He said: "With the UK version, once that final string pinged from my grasp and it was being controlled by health and safety, and it's being controlled by the production, then yeah we butted heads a bit and we parted ways a bit sourly."
Ant thinks Channel 4 was trying to dilute his personality and the time had come for him to leave the programme.
He reflected: "The moment my work starts to get diluted, and I don't stay true to who I am and true to what the course is about, then it's time for me to move on."
Ant's departure from the UK version of the show was confirmed in early March, with Channel 4 citing his "personal conduct" as the reason.
The broadcaster said at the time: "Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of 'SAS: Who Dares Wins'.
"Following a number of discussions, Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again."
