Marcus Rashford plays a radish in Aldi's new Christmas advert.
The Manchester United footballer lends his voice to an adorable tuxedo-wearing vegetable in the supermarket chain's festive commercial, which is a remake of 'A Christmas Carol' focusing on the miser Ebanana Scrooge.
In the ad, Kevin the Carrot returns to remind the banana about the spirit of the festive season.
He stops to chat with Marcus Radishford, who wishes the carrot a Merry Christmas before they head off on an adventure.
Thankfully, Ebanana sheds his skin and - just like Scrooge in Charles Dickens' classic - vows to be better, and ends the advert by taking a Christmas pudding to Kevin and his family.
The piece is narrated by Jim Broadbent, who says at the end: “The moral of the story? The answer you’ll find... for you to be happy, you need to be kind.”
Aldi's collaboration with the 24-year-old England forward is seeing them donate 1.8 million meals to families in need over the festive season.
It comes after Rashford successfully campaigned for the UK government to provide free school meals during lockdown.
This week, he received an MBE for his efforts, and he has spoken of his pride in being part of the Aldi campaign.
He said: "As a family, we relied on the local food bank to get our Christmas dinner.
"To this day, I remember queuing outside that building with mum; mum feeling embarrassed that she might be recognised.
"It is with that in mind that I’m delighted to lend my support to the Aldi campaign.
"For many children in situations like mine growing up, there is very little expectation around this time of year; add the impact of the pandemic and the very least they deserve is a Christmas dinner."
