Maisie Smith topped the leaderboard in the second week of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 19-year-old actress and her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez came out on top during Saturday’s (31.10.20) live episode of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, when they wowed the three judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, and Motsi Mabuse - with their Tango, earning them a score of 25 out of 30.
Maisie scored eight out of 10 from both Craig and Motsi, but head judge Shirley was so pleased with her performance - which was choreographed to ‘Midnight Sky’ by Miley Cyrus - she gave the ‘EastEnders’ star an almost perfect nine.
This week, the judge’s scores from last week are combined with their scores from tonight’s show to make up the total going into the first public vote, and Maisie’s impressive score of 24 from last week means she’s tied for first place on the leaderboard with singer HRVY, who scored 25 last week and 24 this week.
In third place is ‘Strictly’s first-ever same-sex couple, boxer Nicola Adams and her dance partner Katya Jones, who also scored 24 this week, which was a three point improvement on last week’s 21.
And comedian Bill Bailey also scored 24 this week when he danced the quickstep with his partner Oti Mabuse, giving him a massive nine point jump from last week’s less than impressive 15 out of 30.
At the other end of the leaderboard, former politician Jacqui Smith and her partner Anton Du Beke are in last place, having scored just 12 points this week, and just 13 points the week before.
Just above her is ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Jamie Laing with scores of 17 and 14 from this week and last week respectively, and retired American football player Jason Bell, with scores of 18 and 16.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will be back on screens on Sunday (01.11.20), when this year’s first dance-off will take place between the two couples who receive the fewest points when the public vote is added to the judge’s scores.
