The 22-year-old semi-professional footballer almost managed to make it through the entire series of the ITV2 reality show without shedding a tear, but the penultimate episode on Sunday (22.08.21) finally broke him as he began sobbing when his mum and sister walked into the villa.

Sunday saw each islander visited by two of their loved ones, but social distancing rules amid the COVID-19 pandemic meant they weren’t allowed to hug each other, and had to sit two metres apart while they spoke about their time in the villa.

During his chat with his family, Toby’s mum began to cry as she said: “I’ve missed you so much!”

And Toby also became emotional as he said: “No, stop! Mum, stop! I haven’t cried once here and now I’m crying!”

The hunk’s mum went on to gush about his romance with Chloe Burrows, as she and Toby’s sister both gave the relationship their seal of approval.

Toby’s mum said: “You’re besotted with Chloe, you are besotted with her. You are cute, you’re very cute together.”

While his sister added: “I love her. I’ve loved her since before you two were even together.”

To which Toby replied: “It’s a big, big opinion because I care about you guys’ opinion.”

And his mum said: “I know you do, but we care more for you that you’ve found the right one.”

The episode also saw the other three remaining couples – Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank, Millie Court and Liam Reardon, and Faye Winter and Teddy Soares – also get a visit from their loved ones ahead of Monday’s (23.08.21) live final.

The final will air at 9pm on ITV2 and the ITV Hub, and will see one couple crowned victorious and get the chance to go home with £50,000.
