'Love Island' star Sharon Gaffka has praised ITV's "incredible" aftercare, admitting is is "hard to keep up" with their phone calls.
The 25-year-old civil servant took part in the seventh series of the ITV2 dating show earlier this year, and she has told how the welfare team have been in touch with her numerous times since she departed the villa after 19 days.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the London Fashion Week ICON after-party, she said: "I can’t really fault ITV, their welfare team are definitely 100 per cent on it, and the aftercare package is incredible.
"If anything, they phone you so much it’s hard to keep up with them phoning you! So I can’t necessarily fault them in terms of mental health.
"There is so much that producers can do when it comes to creating a show and creating a storyline, especially in reality TV, but it basically comes down to like public perception; and with reality TV I think a lot of the public forget that it’s a show, and there are people behind that."
Sharon also praised her former co-stars for their attitude towards mental health.
She said: "One thing I really love about this year’s Islanders is they’re really outspoken about mental health and about how it’s impacted all of us; we’re very supportive of each other, so I feel very lucky to have them as my fellow contestants."
The TV star also admitted she would have to think carefully about doing reality TV again, but categorically ruled out appearing in the 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' jungle.
She said: "I don’t like bugs, so anything like 'I’m a Celebrity' is 100 per cent out of the question. I’m afraid of pigeons, so if you put me in a crate with some spiders it would definitely be hell!"
Sharon attended the official London Fashion Week ICON after-party, hosted by Buzz Talent at Q Shoreditch on Friday 17th September 2021.
